Mission Australia.

The national colours of Australia are green and gold. One of the reasons for Australians to pick these particular colours has to do with an Australian plant which is green with yellow ‘small fruit’. These colours are very relevant for the world these days. Because green has to do with the environment and gold has to do with money. So Australia has to do with a sustainable environmentally friendly wealthy economy! Australia has uranium, in Dutch ‘straling’ means radiation and of course ‘au’ in most languages means pain! On the other hand as long as there is no radiation leak, nuclear energy could be a good alternative to other ways of generating energy. In Australia they also have coal, and I read several times in The Australian about what they called: ‘clean coal’ which must be very clean and has very little CO2 emissions. I cannot understand why in Europe nobody seems to know about clean coal! This story sure makes you think that there is a divine plan with the world, don’t you think?

I Am Like This!

This year the Melbourne Cup, Australia’s main horse racing event, was cancelled due to Horse Influenza. This was the first time this race was cancelled in its 100+ year history! In The Australian I found this picture of an Australian horse racing coach. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I first saw this picture, because I felt as if I was looking at a photo of myself. I don’t know anything about horses, but because of my love for American country music I learned to love ‘country’ over the past 25 years, this made me develop special feelings for rodeos and cowboys. This is what the soul of Country Music is all about. I was in Australia twice in 1984 and 1997, and I was at the Devonport, Tasmania horse racing track. I also walked past the Devonport dog racing track but it was closed to the public because racing season hadn’t started yet. For years I lived with the local American airmen stationed on Soesterberg AB (NL), which was referred to as ‘the farm’. But as I said, this man in this photo could have been me, except I am thinner. I would want to be a farmer in Australia, even though Australia is currently suffering from a very serious drought, so lots of farmers get government money to sell their farms because crops won’t grow due to water shortages. Australia is proof of how much water we need as humans and that Australia is merely the start of a global fresh water shortage in the future. Farmers have strong bodies, and my body is weak, but I would develop a passion for the land and its crops or livestock. Because of songs I got to know about: farmers, farms, cowboys and rodeos (and horses of course)!

Du Gehörst Mir. (You Belong To Me)

Yesterday evening I saw this brilliant drama program on ZDF (the German Number Two Network). It was a show about a male lawyer and female journalist. They fell in love because they both were really special to each other, they even got married. But then the woman discovered that the reason for her husband’s being special had to do with mental illness, so then she wanted a divorce. The final scene showed the female swimming away from an island in the Mediterranean, followed by the male, but that the male couldn’t swim very well so he drowned. What I liked about this show was that the female – a German female – appeared so special. And also the male appeared really special. In three words, an inspirational program!

My Chemical Romance.

I heard a song in Dutch by a band called ‘Mooi Wark’ (which translates into ‘good job’). This song is about how to start your love (or rather ‘sex’) life as a male. I thought it was fine. But then I heard the same song in English, which – I figured – was the original. Today I heard this song on AT40 and it was at spot 37 in the chart. I learned that the band was called My Chemical Romance and the song was titled: ‘Teenagers’. This original version has a totally different message compared to the Dutch song I already knew. Still both these songs have a positive message. So this is good. I think I like the English version better even though I heard the Dutch version more times.

Gimme That!

Here is another very funny animation by Nicholson as published in The Australian. Australia is booming in lots of areas. And this weekend Australian Prime Minister Howard hosts a meeting of APEC in Sydney. So there are lots of government leaders there. This animation shows the mood among Australians: “Gimme That!”

The Rock FM.

Well, I found this new station on the David Marsden website! David presents a show on this web station two nights per week, except due to the difference in time zones it is in the middle of the night here in Central Europe. Anyway, this station is called The Rock and when you click on their ‘listen live’ button you get to hear a commercial first and then you are allowed to listen for three hours. That’s a nice solution, for them to pay their bills! The Rock is located in Canada. Have a listen, it is fun!

1st Infantry Division.

Today I found this photo in The Australian. These bleach blonde’s are part of the 1st Infantry Division deployed to Iraq. I was in love with several female American soldiers, but they didn’t have blond hair. These women deserve to be loved, because of their service, loyalty and courage. The past 15 years sure went by quickly.

‘Ugly Betty’.

There is a new TV series in the USA titled: ‘Ugly Betty’… I used to know and love an American military radio presenter called Beth. She thought I was her boyfriend but that I didn’t realize she was with me, because the US Air Force didn’t allow us to go out together or get intimate. Beth was nice, she wasn’t pretty like a movie star, but she wasn’t ugly at all either. For many years the Dutch teased me by making me fall in love with a pretty girl and then only letting really ugly females near me. And there were no girls like Beth in high school or university. The females I knew at university were just plain; I couldn’t fall in love with them. The Netherlands government made sure I wouldn’t meet any females I’d like. So then I dropped out of university and asked the Americans for an American military girlfriend, I had to wait for almost 3 years and then came Beth. But of course the Americans weren’t going to spoil the Dutch their fun of manipulating me to remain single. So Beth got a female colleague called Carrie, who was looking rather ugly, but she did let me take her photo and she even got married while stationed on Soesterberg AB just like Beth. If a pretty girl falls in love with you, then does the government have a right to make sure you will remain apart? This happened to me so many times. It breaks my heart that the Americans didn’t break the lock on the Dutch government’s attempt to keep me single. I really hurt over Beth. After falling in love with Beth I am no longer interested in Dutch females, anymore – too many bad experiences. The Netherlands government wouldn’t set me free to live my own (love) life, anyway. If I wanted a real love life my only option would be immigrating to Australia! But that due to my failing health I can no longer travel, I feel the Dutch deliberately took away my freedom by sabotaging my health. I have about four Australian female soul mates, and they still like me, no matter how ugly the Dutch government makes me. Someone should teach the Dutch government a lesson, and I should be well enough and be allowed to move Down Under. And Betty was definitely NOT ugly!

Big L.

Saturday afternoons are boring where Dutch radio is concerned. Sunday afternoons I listen to American Top 40 via the Internet. Today I am listening to BigL from the Uk for the first time. They air a show of their Top40 with Oldies on Saturday afternoons, they call this show ‘the Fab40′. I sure am glad I finally found a radio show for Saturday afternoons to listen to!
